I had been limping around for a year with knee pain from a torn meniscus before getting it surgically repaired at Hospital for Special Surgery. Couldn't wear heels, struggled with stairs, and had trouble sleeping because I couldn't get comfortable. As I told people about my condition, I found that many of them had had the same problem. A colleague at work had the surgery performed twice. The first time was unsuccessful. The second time Dr. MacGillivray performed the surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery. So I cancelled my appointment with a local surgeon and went straight to HSS. I'm not an athlete, and I had a fairly common problem, so I wasn't sure I should go to a hospital that performs "special surgery." But I've got a busy life and no time or interest in repeat operations, so I went straight to the experts. And what do you know? I was up and about in no time, free of pain -- and that annoying limp. Thank you, Dr. MacGillivray!
